Cluster Jewel Notables. Purposeful Harbinger. 10% increased Effect of Auras on You for each Herald affecting you; Purposeful Harbinger is a Cluster J ewel notable that provided “10% increased. Can't do physical reflect maps 2. Can't do no leech maps How does this build work? Sunder is a 'Melee' Skill with a range, which makes it a lot easier to evade everything that is being thrown at us. We are playing on a dual wield. So all we do is: 1. Get in range of the enemy, hold right mousebutton and watch stuff die.

Severed in Sleep is like 50+ chaos in Harbinger right now :)

These build posts are basically worthless without a stream vod or video. Work on that before making a build guide IMO. Why should anyone invest time and currency in a build that they can't even see how it actually plays? Maybe your definition of 'sonic' speed is total garbage for someone else. We don't know.

Video of Uber Lab uploaded. I know I suck at lab so keep it in your pants this time.

I've just started following your build, do you have any advice on what to go for first in your passives as you level?

Thanks for sharing. It seems like a good build for the league starter. However I don't think it's nessecary to stack physical dmg neither using Hatred
Dream Feather DPH:=143 physical dmg
Added cold mamage support (lv20)=212 cold dmg
Ice bite (lv20, 7 frenzy) =219 cold dmg
The flat physical damage only take 25% of the total. I would rather stack attack speed.

Life nodes and Winter Spirit, then Acro and your ele damage nodes. Get your Fight for Survival jewels running as soon as you can.

Grace + HoI loses about 6000 dps, HoI + Hated loses about 2000 dps. Thats not even considered the loss of Grace.

This is my comparison:
Suppose dreamfleather is the only physical dmg source
Hatred (flat base dmg)= 143*0.36=51.48
cost: 50% Mana Reservation
HOI (flat base dmg)=47;
385 (AOE DMG);
can link to curse;
Provide 15% Increase cold damage
cost: 25% Reservation
The HOI outperforms Hatred obviously. If we stack flat physical dmg from gear then the hatred can deal more damage, however we can stack much more flat cold dmg from the gear.
By all means this build should a elemental build, instead of physical build. Thins like adding # physical dmg, or incrase % physical damage are not worth to be invested.

Hatred will almost always be more damage than HoI, I barely have any added phys from gear and this is still the case. I've tested it in game multiple times with different gear configurations. If you want to keep arguing unfounded results with no in game testing or Path of Building to back it up, you can PM me instead of spamming the comments with this nonsense. Also your math is wrong. Feel free to run Herald of Ice and Discipline for all I care, I made this post to help new players find a starting point, not to argue about what is best in every given permutation of the build.

I agree that hatred has more signle target damage than HOI. But how much? I tested on my character, which has similar gear as you suggested. The DPS with (grace+hatred) after taking flask is 28698, with (grace+hoi)=27404. Very little difference. Both gem is lv 18, 0 quality. Do you think it's worth to invest 25% more mana reservation on 5% dps? Not even mention HOI has good AOE explosion, which is so usefull on clearing the pack, especially in Breach.

Tornado Shot Deadeye Ranger is one of the most well-rounded map farming builds in PoE. Find out how to build it on a reasonable budget

Updated for Patch 3.11

The Best Crafty Guides by Odealo

Estimated budget: high

Guide notes

-Updated for Patch 3.11

Tornado Shot Ranger is one of the most well-rounded ranged builds in Path of Exile. It can be extremely powerful as a Starter build with just a few physical DPS items required and one of the best clearing speed on lower-tier Maps. Later on, it will allow you to face Shaper and the Elder as long as you can afford the required gear (including two 6-linked items for both the Tornado Shot and Barrage setups). It is rather easy to play because of its' simple gameplay mechanics, good damage and amazing AoE. However, with the changes in Patch 3.9, farming high Tier Maps with this build will require quite significant investments in gear.

This build is also extremely flexible. Players can freely choose between going either a full glass cannon (it requires kiting experience) or keeping a balance between offense and defense. Keep in mind that if you can't stay alive the build loses its' purpose - it's meant to be extremely fast.

Effing wormsjosh's pancake mix. We would like to also invite you to check the full list of our Path of Exile's Crafty guides that can be found here: Odealo's Crafty Guides - Full List

1. Gameplay

This build is very straightforward. Tornado Shot Deadeye is a ranged DPS class, that deals massive damage, and requires the player to kite and avoid enemy attacks. In order to be fully viable certain defensive mechanics have to be put to work, otherwise, you won't be able to fully utilize this class's potential. This build also provides amazing AoE, while may lack single-target DPS high-tier maps. This makes this build require second 5/6 linked item to put the Barrage skill in it, or swapping several Gems for boss fights.

This video was recorded pre 3.9 but the gameplay mechanics haven't changed much since

Odealo is a trading platform for MMO players. Here you can buy PoE Currency, Orbs, and Unique Items with real money from regular players.

2. Build's PROS & CONS

PROS
  • high single-target and AoE damage
  • good as a League starter build with no specific unique items required
  • can do all content on a proper budget
  • very fast clear speed
CONS
  • feels squishy if you don't have kiting experience
  • vulnerable to reflect mods maps
  • requires two six-linked items for both single-target and AoE DPS setups
  • transition into end-game is expensive

3. Leveling tips

Leveling as a Ranger is of the easiest kind. It usually is more than enough to upgrade your gear with the self-found items, and the build itself provides a great balance between offense and defense. You can use at least a couple bow skills that will do just fine, with either higher single or AoE DPS. We recommend using Burning Arrow(or other Bow Attacks that you can get for completing the first quest - content is easy enough to pick any of them) early on and replace it with Tornado Shot at level 28.

Suggested leveling Gem setups:

Burning Arrow setup
Burning Arrow - one of the first available bow skills in PoE. It will do just fine until you get the Tornado Shot Gem
Added Fire Damage Support - great buff to your DPS
Lesser Multiple Projectiles Support - this will make your BA quite viable for clearing bigger packs as well
Do harbingers do physical dmg poets
Tornado Shot setup
Tornado Shot - you should start using Tornado Shot as soon as it becomes available. Try to use(and level up) as many support Gems you plan to use later on with this setup. This always makes the transition to your final build much easier
Greater Multiple Projectiles Support - you can use this Gem shortly after you get the TS running, just buy it as soon as you reach level 38
Mirage Archer Support - summons a Mirage Archer on your back which uses Tornado Shot with reduced Attack Speed. Greatly increases your clear speed and shortens your leveling
Elemental Damage with Attacks Support - increases Elemental Damage dealt with supported Attacks. It's also one of the recommended end-game Gems
Utility Gems
Lightning Golem - the recommended Golem for this build which increases your Attack and Cast Speed
Assassin's Mark - the recommended curse option for this build. You can start using it manually as soon as you reach level 24.
Herald of Ice - adds moderate DPS buff, as well as it's one of the recommended endgame Spells so you might want to start leveling it up early
Herald of Thunder - adds Lightning Damage to your Attacks

Bandits:

We recommend helping Alira for increased Critical Strike Multiplier and Elemental Resistances

Leveling Skill Trees:

5. Final Gems links

[DPS] Tornado Shot
Tornado Shot - your main DPS skill. It grants amazing AoE, and very good single target DPS as secondary projectiles can hit the same target
Greater Multiple Projectiles Support- one of the best support Gem for farming with TS ranger
Mirage Archer Support - Tornado Shot is used mainly for clearing, and there is no better Support Gem for that than Mirage Archer
Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
Inspiration Support - grants high bonus Elemental Damage as well as reduces Tornado Shot's Mana Cost
Immolate Support - very high flat added Fire Damage to your attacks when your target is burning
[DPS] Barrage setup
Barrage - this build's main single-target DPS skill. You either have to use Belly of the Beast for this setup, have another bow to swap for bosses/single-target enemies, or just carry the replacement Gems with you
Elemental Focus Support - grants very high bonus Elemental Damage but makes Barrage unable to inflict Elemental Ailments
Inspiration Support
Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
Hypothermia Support
Immolate Support
[UTILITY] Orb of Storms setup
Orb of Storms - AoE Spell which is used to apply your Curse and generate Power Charges
Power Charge on Critical Support - generates Power Charges and increases Orb of Storm's Crit.
Curse on Hit Support - this Gem linked with HoI will make it apply the supported Curse
Assassin's Mark - our recommended Curse for this build. It increases your Crit. Chance and generates Power Charges
[UTILITY] Vaal Skills
Cast when Damage Taken Support - auto-casts your preferred Guard Spell whenever you take a certain amount of damage. We recommend picking up Steelskin for this build. You should also match this Gem's and Steelskin's level with your Strength Attribute
Steelskin - grants a protective shield that absorbs some of the incoming damage
[UTILITY] Golem setup
Cast when Damage Taken Support - auto-casts your Golem which makes it grant its bonus more consistently
Summon Lightning Golem - the best DPS-wise Golem we can use in this build
[MOBILITY] Dash
Dash - a very quick and convenient Mobility Skill
Second Wind Support - allows you to carry an extra use of Dash and reduces its' cooldown recovery speed
[UTILITY] Auras
Anger - the best DPS Aura for this build. Apparently, it grants more damage than Hatred currently
Precision - increases your Critical Strike Chance and Accuracy Rating
